| American Bandstand Lives On and we're invited! “Bandstand’s Best” is a website devoted exclusively to the memories we all have of our favorite after-school dance TV show, American Bandstand. In it you will find photos from the shows, fan magazine articles, information about the program and the regulars, the dancers we learned the dances from. Remember Arlene Sullivan and Kenny Rossi, Eddie Kelly and Bunny Gibson? When I contacted the “Bandstand’s Best” website asking permission to put their link on our class site, Charles W. Amann III responded with not only a “yes” but with an invitation to our class to come to the original Bandstand studio when we are in Philadelphia for a vip tour conducted by one of the show’s regular dancers. He is helping to preserve the studio as a Bandstand museum of sorts, and soon will publish a book about the show. Here, in part, is his response to my request: Should you or any members of the class ever be in Philadelphia, allow me to arrange a personal tour of the studio and perhaps have one of the American Bandstand Regulars accompany the tour. The book cover appears on the homepage of the website. Further, if you go up to the tabs and read "About the Author" and "About Us" you will see more about me and my mission plan. The book -- to be released next year -- hopefully in the late spring is titled The Princes and Princesses of Dance/The Follies of Fame. When it comes time for release, I will let you know how you may go about purchasing it, but it will be available online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. There are excerpts from the book in "The Book" tab on the website. The studio of which I am speaking is the original American Bandstand Studio. I am one of the supporters and contributors of the maintenance of the studio and its preservation and was the concept adviser to the mural which was unveiled at the 2007 reunion in the studio (Studio B). Well, a big shoutout from all the American Bandstand Regulars to their fans. Let's hear from your class as to who their favorites were. Please give us your input on the blogs, because the public show of interest is so important in keeping the memory alive. BTW I was on your website today. It's just wonderful.
