The Surprise Birthday Party
by Judith (Chappell) Balsiger
(Story below pic)

This happened in June, 1998.
never be another one like her.
She planned a surprise birthday party for me at Marbo’s, our Chinese They
waited, then ordered and ate and I still didn’t show up. The party was over and
they were tired of waiting for me and just getting ready to cut my cake, when I
walked in the door. She had planned this party before my birthday, so I wouldn’
t be suspicious, and Orval was let in on the secret and said no, I didn’t have
any plans for that day.
That morning I had decided to go to OKC to do some shopping and Orval
couldn’t say anything so I just took off and went on about my business. She
called me at home then called Orval to see where I was. I was gone all day
and had nothing to hurry back for, so I took my time.. I got back to town and
went by the station and Orval had gone to the farm so I went to see my niece.
We visited for a while and when I left there, I drove by my grand kids house and
stopped by to see them for a little bit. That’s when she caught up with me and
told me she had car trouble, could I come get her. I went to Marbo's and it was
close to closing time. I was a little bit late for my party.
The surprise was on her .
When I got home I had messages starting about 10:00 a.m. that went on all
day. I got a big laugh out of all the stories, every message had a different crisis.
We will never forget Ila Faye.
